Who I am
My name is Jacob Malinowski, I’m 22 years old, and I’m running for State Assembly in the placed I’ve lived my entire life. I graduated valedictorian from the public schools in Greendale, and after four years at Yale University, I came back to be an advocate for my community. My father is a carpenter, and his father owned a union shop in Milwaukee — I get what it means to roll up your sleeves and do your job. I also have a strong commitment to service: I worked 3 different retail jobs in my community (including McDonald’s for $7.25/hr) to pay for college, I served on the Greendale School Board, and I volunteer every year with a veterans organization to teach young men about our country’s values.
Why I am Running
I never thought I would run for office — I much preferred working behind-the scenes. Then, in the fall of 2019, there were three cases of young people dying by suicide in my district: two in Greenfield and one in Greendale. The young man in Greendale was the younger brother of a good friend of mine and went to my former high school. That same day, my state rep missed six bipartisan votes on suicide prevention, and he never apologized or explained why. This pissed me off, so I decided to do something about it. I’m running because my hometown deserves a passionate, accessible, and inclusive representative who wants to put people first. Instead of the same old politics as usual, we need a fresh new face to actually get things done.
